Netanyahu reluctant to agree ceasefire because it could bring down his government
People are dying for the very worst of reasons
Remember how Israel almost went to civil war over the right to rape prisoners at Sde Teiman? Well, in the latest example of why Israel is a lunatic state, it appears Netanyahu was ready to give in to global pressure and accept a temporary ceasefire with Hezbollah and Hamas, but his government said no. The ruling coalition’s bloodlust is so strong, they can’t wait to do to Lebanon what they did to Gaza.
Western countries were keen on a temporary ceasefire, if for no other reason than they need to rescue their citizens who are trapped in Lebanon, but the Zionist fanatics do not care about our civilians. To them, we are all goyim.
While it’s not unthinkable Israel could yet be pressured into a ceasefire, I think this prospect is unlikely. Just know that if one is agreed five minutes after I publish this article, I was going with the indications coming from Israel at the time of writing!
The Times of Israel reports:
Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer had reached agreements in principle with the US on a ceasefire process covering both Lebanon and Gaza, with Netanyahu’s approval, before the prime minister backtracked today.
According to the article, Netanyahu was even ready to announce Hamas has been militarily defeated, meaning there is no need to continue fighting in Gaza. Remember this when the body count continues to rise for no reason.
Netanyahu’s backtracking was almost certainly due to internal pressure from the far-right Jewish Power party. National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir said: “If a temporary cease-fire becomes permanent, we will resign from the government.”
Ben Gvir’s party could bring the fragile coalition down, however, opposition figures said they would back a ceasefire so it’s not clear this would happen. Regardless, Netanyahu is pandering to the extreme elements of an already extreme Knesset, rather than do the right thing.
Israel was asked to ease up on fighting in the heavily-populated north of Lebanon while negotiations took place, something that would significantly reduce the risk of civilian casualties, but Netanyahu’s office emphatically rejected this, saying: “The Prime Minister has directed the IDF to continue fighting with full force.”
Netanyahu is indicating he is still willing to consider the ceasefire proposals, but I doubt he is sincere, given he said:
“If Hezbollah does not get the message we have conveyed in the past week, including the elimination of senior figures, [Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah] will understand in a different way.”
Netanyahu has come under fire in Israel for derailing previous ceasefire deals with Hamas to save his own skin. His Foreign Minister Israel Katz posted on Twitter that “there will be no cease-fire.”
One thing seems clear, the obstacle to peace is Israel’s government so if we’re calling Hezbollah terrorists, what label should we apply to the people who are more bloodthirsty?
Israel’s stated aim is to keep “throwing Hezbollah off balance and deepening their loss”, but at least 50 children have died so far and every child that dies in the coming weeks is on them. Israel has so far killed 630 people in Lebanon, but that figure is rising all the time and will go much higher. If the stated aim of enabling Israelis to return to their homes in northern Israel was genuine, you wouldn’t blow up entire neighbourhoods in Beirut. This is just the collective punishment strategy again.
The stupidity of the strategy is that unless Israel eradicates Hezbollah (and, of course, Hamas), all it’s doing is enraging its enemies who will be seeking retribution for years to come. They are guaranteeing settlers in northern Israel will not be safe if they return to their homes. A ceasefire would be a much better strategy. The reluctance to accept a ceasefire shows the moral cowardice of Netanyahu. He is more interested is holding his coalition together than doing the right thing by his people.
One of the exhausting aspects of this story is how we keep hearing this war could drag in the US and its allies. Our leaders could refuse to support the genocidal regime, but that is apparently asking too much. While protests break out across the US, Washington has just agreed to send Israel another $8.7 billion weapons package and more troops.
Imagine your mate has been killing people and then he is heading for a shopping mall to open fire and instead of stopping him, you’re just like, “I don’t approve, but he’s my mate so I guess I gotta help him.” That’s basically our leaders.
And we’re fed a non-stop stream of bullshit to excuse or play down their disgusting crimes. There was a recent exchange between Piers Morgan and Mehdi Hasan, and yes, I know the anti-war movement has issues with Hasan’s Democrat support, but here he was good.
Hasan gave Morgan a brief history of Israeli aggression towards Lebanon, and when Morgan tried to blame Hezbollah, Hasan pointed out this began before Hezbollah existed. Indeed, it was the 1982 occupation of Lebanon that gave birth to Hezbollah. Morgan’s problem is that he is always uninformed and underprepared, something no one can accuse Hasan of being.
Morgan doubled down, insisting the latest round of fighting happened because Hezbollah started firing rockets at Israel immediately after October 7th. Here is the ensuing exchange:
“Where did they fire the first rockets?”
“They fired rockets on the eighth.”
“Where?”
“Well, you tell me.”
“No, no, you just said they fired at Israel. Where?”
“They fired in the direction of Israel?”
“Where did they hit? They fired at the Shebaa Farms… which as I said earlier is an area of Syria. Well, the Lebanese claim it’s Lebanon. Syria claims it’s Lebanon. Israel says ‘no’ and it’s occupying the Shebaa Farms. They fired at Israeli military installations in the Shebaa Farms.”
“They were firing at an area Israel says is theirs.”
“No, Israel says it’s Syria because remember, Israel is occupying Syria and the West Bank and Gaza… The core of the problem is Israel’s territorial expansion.”
“It’s a mess.”
“Not a mess, it’s Israel occupying multiple Arab lands which leads to quote, unquote, ‘resistance’, ‘terrorism’, I don’t care what word you wanna use right now, but that is the core, right? … Deal with the occupation then you deal with the violence… The reality is eighty-two percent of the exchange of fire between Israel and Lebanon since October seventh has been done by Israel.”
This is one of the ways Israel and corporate media manipulate public opinion. Any conflict in land Israel occupies is framed as an attack on Israeli soil. The public is left with the impression that Israel’s enemies are attacking its civilians when that is not the case.
All attacks on civilians should be condemned, but while one side is labelled as terrorists, Israel never gets that label, despite killing far more civilians. When we point out the hypocrisy, we get called terrorist supporters by the people who support terrorism.
For a long time, it was hard to push back because we didn’t have the platforms to do so, but now that alternative voices are being heard, public opinion is shifting. When we are heard by the public, we win the argument, and this is why it’s essential we keep speaking out.
Internal or infernal pressure? I wonder how Israel hopes to be viewed by the world if/when this diabolical killing ends. They have revealed themselves, the Zionists, to be genocidal and sociopathic, and every day people are better informed and beginning to realise how they've been propagandised all these years. Tony Greenstein's book Zionism During the Holocaust shows how the Zionists made deals with the Nazis at the expense of "ordinary" Jews. But I fear western governments will continue do Israel's bidding and further weaken their grip unless they go full totalitarian.
Zionism Terrorist Organization leader Benjamin "Amalek" Netanyahu has arrived in the heart of the Evil Empire for another working visit. The noted war criminal and general warmonger is scheduled to address the Disunited Nations General Assembly later today. It is expected that he will also confer with his cosiglieri, Anthony "I come to you . . . as a Jew" Blinken, and pay his respects to Empire frontman "Genocide Joe""I am a Zionist" Biden. Select ZTO lickspittles from all over the Empire are likely to come forth and genuflect before him and kiss his ring, to ensure reception of their stuffed envelopes, so vital now as Election Day nears.
